A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Victory also means he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a third set.

He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
